EJCM Model Railroad Club Open House

November 14th & 15th , 2009

The Weekend NGineers will be operating both days also. The Optimist’s Club Train Set will be set up in the parking lot for train rides. Refreshments will be served. The open house is at The Odessa Outlet Mall next to The Gap on the West side of the Mall. Come on out and see what Model Railroading is all about.

Admission is free.

A HO scale train set being donated by J & L Hobby & Trains will be raffled. Tickets are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00

Store Update

We are still going with our closing store sale at cost (plus 5% to cover freight) as we are cleaning out all of our old inventory. This includes detail parts, decals, paints, and books. Digitrax, Soundtraxx and new items are not included one this sale.

Now for our big announcement: new items coming over the last month has been put aside for our new store opening. The Odessa Outlet mall has offered me a deal I could not refuse. I did not have to sign a lease, therefore, we will be moving out from Buckner to Odessa on August 16^th. We will reopen towards end of that week. In the meantime, we will move the tall stuff and some of the shelving to new location this Thursday and Friday while I still have the two boys to help. We will be at the Front Street show August 2nd and will open the store afterwards 2:30 PM until last one leaves.

The Turkey Creek show is this Saturday and we will be open late that night packing for Front Street show on Sunday. Anything that does not sell prior to August 16th will be put on eBay.  Our thinking is if it does not sell at cost, there is no use stocking it. We will sell it on eBay to help Mike through college.

Our current phone number (816-650-3531) will be in service until August 16th.  Our new address at the Odessa Outlet Mall is 1344 W Old Highway 40, Odessa, MO 64076. Our new phone number (816-633-5400) will be in service on August 3rd and will be limited on answering until August 16th. We are located on the west side of the eastern half of the Outlet Mall (2 doors south Bridal Shop and just before the Italian Restaurant). Our email will stay the same. We are excited about it and the mall people have been great. We look forward to a lot of new customers stopping in as we are right on the south side of I-70.

Red Caboose/Intermountain “Partnership”

Red Caboose and InterMountain Railway Company have entered into a “partnership” arrangement under which InterMountain will be responsible for the manufacturing and distribution of all Red Caboose product beginning May 1, 2009.  InterMountain will provide information to its dealer network for Advance Reservations on all new releases, and production quantities will be determined by the interest shown through the reservations.  The reservation period will be approximately seven weeks and production will follow within four to five months. 

InterMountain will also have access to all of the existing Red Caboose inventory and will make that product available through its dealer network as well.  All Red Caboose finished product will be shown on both the Red Caboose and InterMountain websites.  Undecorated kits and miscellaneous parts will continue to be available directly from Red Caboose.

Both Red Caboose and InterMountain are pleased to announce this new relationship and to continue providing this fine line of railroad models to the model railroad hobby.

It has come to our attention that the recently shipped Genesis Norfolk Southern SD60M locomotives have reached the marketplace with paint errors on the body. The following item numbers are affected:

We ask that you please return these affected locomotives to the place of purchase by May 8th, 2009 for a full refund. At that time you’ll have an opportunity to place an order for new, properly decorated product. The revised locomotives will ship in approximately 4 months. Bowser

Just a little note to all our customers,

 

Bowser has discontinued HO steam loco, turntable, Standard gauge and O gauge replacement wheel production. We will continue to make our HO diesel locomotives, HO freight car, N freight cars, HO trolleys, Cal Scale, Selley and Cary detail parts. We have plans for many new products but, they do not include any steam locos in any scale. Steam loco parts are still available, but when our supply is exhausted, I do not plan to restock.

Athearn Acquires T55 Tooling

Athearn® Trains is excited to announce we have purchased select tooling from T55, the plastic division of Overland Models. T55 is one of the model railroading industry’s leading producers of high-quality injection-molded models. Using T55’s outstanding tooling, Genesis will soon be producing a run of General Electric GEVO (ES44AC and ES44DC) models, as well as EMD SD70ACe and SD70M-2 models.

These prototypes are the most current locomotives from North America’s primary builders, and are found in the fleets of Union Pacific (including the Heritage Fleet and Bush Presidential Library and Museum), BNSF, CIT Leasing, CSX, Canadian National, Canadian Pacific, EMD Demonstrators, Ferromex, Florida East Coast, GE Demonstrators, Kansas City Southern, Montana Rail Link and Norfolk Southern.

Just as these locomotives are the backbone of today’s Class One and Regional railroads, they will also be an important addition to Athearn’s Genesis® series of top-of-the-line HO models. Locomotives, in keeping with Genesis standards, will be offered with and without sound. They will also feature directional lighting; operating ditch lights; separately applied, etched metal details; and the same attention to detail you expect from Genesis.

Any backorder you may have placed with T55 will unfortunately not be transferred. As Genesis announces each new run, please contact your local train store to place your new order. Release dates, pricing and specific product information will be announced in future editions of Athearn News and online at Athearn.com.

Important Notice

Manufactures are changing prices so often any more that we can not even keep up with them. With a large inventory, therefore, we will leave items at the old price until we reorder. Then we will increase our cost on the item when we have to pay the higher wholesale price. For latest correct price on items not in stock, please either call or email us.

Also, due to the present economy, high shipping costs, and the price of gas, the walk in traffic has decreased over 50% last few months. Money is going into the gas tank and there is no quick turn around in sight. It was very expensive for us to keep it going for me to have a hobby. I won’t do that again.

We thank you for the support last 15 years, but I’m 68, have 3 boys serving in the military, and I am going to spend some time traveling to see them when they get back off deployments. We will keep a good stock of track, scenery items, and Walthers buildings up until the last couple months. We have been putting the old stock on our e-Bay store at cost or below when I have time. If you see any you want, bring the item numbers into store and we will honor them prices.

We have picked a date of June 1st, 2009, to be out of here. We are putting the building up for sale on January 1st, 2009. If it sells quick, we could have to get out sooner possible. So far everyone hates to see us go, but they all understand.

Overland Models

For many years, we have maintained an inventory of HO-scale, individually-packaged, detail parts which have been shown in the Overland Models price list under the 9000 Series.

Recently, we have experienced a significant decline in the demand for these parts, from both our dealers and the modeling public.

As a result, we are discontinuing this part of the Overland Models line, effective immediately.
