2009 festival

The 2010 Festival of Steam

The festival takes place on Saturday August 28th and August 29th 2010 from 10am until 6pm at "Centre Denis Papin" in Oignies

Our steam festival features outside attractions: ride-on 5 inch, 7 1/4 inch trains, model radio controlled boats, full size locomotives and French postal carriages. There is a simulated mine which you can visit which is used for training miners. Inside the centre all our small scale (but very large!) model layouts will be operational. Come and view also the massive winding motors of the mine.

Unlike our normal Sunday opening, there is a "fast food" outlet on site and room for your picnic in the grounds.

We welcome visitors with their own 5 inch or 7 1/4 inch locomotives, trams and rolling stock (whether steam or not).

Our site has room to accommodate caravans, camper vans etc. (no tents though) for the duration of the open weekend. Also, if you are holidaying on Continental Europe you can deposit your locomotive with us we will gladly store it for the duration of your holiday (at your risk).

If you wish to bring something, stable it or put your caravan on our site please contact us at least 3 weeks in advance.

The 2009 festival contained an important moment for the society; the lifting of the boiler of the Super Pacific. The 2008 festival was a great success so enjoy some of the photographs of the 2008 event.
