Naji Hakim, world-renowned organist, composer, improviser and successor to Olivier Messiaen, is coming to Houston on October 6-8 to present a lecture and two recitals at Rice University. All are free and open to the public. These concerts are FREE, BUT due to the small size of the Organ Hall at Rice, ONE MUST RESERVE A SEAT BY CALLING (713) 348-5047.

Monday, October 6 at 8:00 PM in Stude Concert Hall, Hakim will present a free lecture entitled "The Mystery and Art of
Improvisation," discussing improvisation and the compositional process. He will speak and perform from the piano on stage. He is a dynamic and interesting speaker, and should provoke and inspire.

On Tuesday, October 7 and Wednesday Oct 8 at 7:30 PM in the Organ Hall, Hakim will present two (different) organ recitals. Each program will be half repertoire (including some of his own exciting works) and the other half will be improvisations on submitted themes. Having heard Naji improvise several times both at La Trinite' in Paris and in concert, I can tell you that this is not to be missed! He is an incredible improviser.
