  • Short Resume: most recent positions
  • Long Resume: more comprehensive look at my career, presentations, publications, honors, and more
  • I happily customize cover letters and resumes for each employment opportunity. Send me details about an appropriate opening and I will submit relevant material.

A flexible information professional with experience in the software industry and special libraries, I have performed a range of assignments throughout my career. Able to effectively multitask, I often find myself in positions with a wide-range of responsibilities. While I am open to a variety of jobs and do not have an ideal in mind, I particularly enjoy being part of a team building a tool people will use to access or find content, whether that's within a library, a more corporate setting, or for a software company. Because helping people makes me happy, I have taken on customer responsibility roles, whether performing research for a journalist or handling a customer support request. As someone who believes strongly in sharing information, I have also made a number of presentations (most are about Web 2.0 technology), taught workshops, and tutored one-on-one. I am adept with many computer programs. A quick learner, I look forward to gaining new skills, attending workshops, and taking classes.

My master of arts in library and information studies has been quite relevant in all of my positions, whether performing the work of a librarian or assuring the quality of software. Knowing how people search for, access, and use information is useful in most of what I have done. Many of the courses I took provided knowledge and/or experience upon which I call regularly.

In December 2010, I wore a name badge with "Hire me" on it at a meeting. A lady advised me not to wear such labels because it makes me look desperate. I believe if I don't inform people I am looking for work, I might miss some nifty employment opportunities. In that particular meeting, wearing such a sign was an ironic statement meant to amuse because I knew there were many people searching for work and possibly no one hiring due to the economy. As to whether I'm desperate, talk to me about an employment opportunity and we can decide based on my response and the nature of the work whether I am desperate.

I am a fairly private person and try to maintain at least a smidge of privacy online, though I have at least have a LinkedIn profile. I have stripped some key information from these online resumes. Ask me for more information or a customized application.
