About Eganville Rotary

Year 2005-2006 coincided with Rotary International’s Centennial Year and the Rotary Club of Eganville partnered with the Renfrew County District School Board to mark the milestone. During the summer of 2005, a large green space, complete with gardens, grass, gazebo, shade trees and a play area was created at EDPS where previously there was only barren asphalt. This area was aptly named “Kinder-garden.”

Rotarians raised funds through a Canada Day breakfast and yardsale, a Christmas letter campaign, a Charity Golf tournament, the Valley Night theme dinner and twice monthly Bingo events. Rotary was also graced by several unsolicited donations given to continue the ‘good of Rotary.’

This past Rotary year, The Rotary Club of Eganville has donated to: (to the nearest hundred dollars)

Eganville and District Community Food Bank $2900

Meals on Wheels ($2.00 supplement to every meal delivered) $1700

Assistance for those in special circumstances $1500

The Rotary Club of Eganville also supports the international community. This year the club sent $500 to the Canadian Landmine Foundation to help remove landmines in war-torn parts of our globe. The club also forwarded $1300 to our parent organization, Rotary International, to support its many humanitarian projects.

We are presently 24 members strong and are always looking for new Rotarians willing to put ‘service above self.’ Rotary meets upstairs in The Granary restaurant every Thursday at 6:30p.m.

President Vigus thanked Paul McNeil for his year of service and the entire community for its generous support of all Rotary activities.
